Junput Beach, West Bengal is a spectacular beach near Digha beach in the same Indian state which presently witnesses to extensive scientific research, marine biology studies and industrialisation, besides a breeding farm of ducks.

Junput Beach, Digha, West BengalJunput Beach is a marvellous beach locale located at a distance of nearly 40 kms away from the region of Digha in West Bengal and about 9 kms away from the town of Contai which is actually a small fishing village. Junput is also a beach resort of Midnapur. The Casuarina or `jhau` tree, kissed by the gentle breeze at Junput, is an engaging sight. Junput beach is lavishly gifted by the nature and is reckoned as the paradise for beach lovers. The State Government Fisheries Department conducts cultivation of brackish water fishes and also supervises research work which is organised here. Post Indian independence, however, tourism resorts were established at Digha instead of Junput Beach.

After enough of lazing in the sun for some fun filled activity at the beach Junput is indeed the place to be. Junput beach offers a beautiful sea view. In the recent era Junput, with its pristine treasure stands out as the tourist`s choice. Arrangements for scientific research and industry were set up at Junput much later, apart from a farm for the breeding of ducks. An institute for marine biology studies has also been developed at Junput Beach which is the epicentre of shark oil extraction and also a significant centre of research of sea-fish.

Travellers from the city of Kolkata must drive to Contai, to approach Junput Beach and thereafter take a left turn towards the latter. Frequent buses can be availed and one can also take bus rides from Digha to Junput. Junput is situated at a distance of nearly 8 kms away from Contai.
