Jiwaji University, Madhya PradeshJiwaji University was named after George Jivajirao Scindia. It is recognised by the Government of India. The University caters to the educational needs of Gwalior, Morena, Bhind, Guna, Shivpuri and Datia. Initially the University started postgraduate courses in Botany and zoology. Later it started courses in Physics, Chemistry and Ancient History, Culture and Archaeology, Biochemistry, Library and Information Science, commerce, Earth Science. It also offers diploma and certificate courses in English, French, German and Russian languages.

The University also offers self finance job oriented courses like Chemicals, sales and marketing management, Instrumentation and commercial methods of Industrial analysis, Refrigeration technology, Environmental Chemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Immunology, computer application, Physical Education, Clinical Pathology and Diagnostic Technology and Physical Education. It also started M.Sc. Neuroscience, M.Sc. Information Technology, Master Tourism Administration and BA in Jyotirvigyan.

The above mentioned courses are conducted through several faculties such as faculty of Life Science, Science, Arts, Commerce and Management, Social Science, Physical Education. The University also contains Indira Gandhi Academy of Environment Education, Centre for M. Phil Studies in Sociology and Political Science, The Institute of Engineering is the technical education. The University offers various courses through distance mode.
