The film starred Ajay Devgn and Karisma Kapoor as the main lead. Jigar was Ajay Devgn"s second success after "Phool Aur Kaante" and premiered at the Plaza Cinema, Mumbai.

Synopsis of Jigar
The story of the movie Jigar is an engaging action-sport film where a man avenges his sister"s humiliation by participating in a deadly kung-fu tournament. Raj Verma played by Ajay Devgn and Duryodhan are very good friends. Raj Verma lovingly called "Raju" is a simple guy. Suman played by Karisma Kapoor is Raju"s love interest and is like a sister to Duryodhan. Duryodhan is a wrestler and works at a martial arts training school owned by Lal Bihari played by Paresh Rawal. Due to some misunderstanding between Raju, Duryodhan and Raju"s sister, she is raped by Duryodhan and Lal Bihari. When Raju tries to stop them he is beaten to death, however he survives miraculously. This angers Raju but he fails in avenging his sister because Duryodhan is a wrestler. After recovery Raju swears to take revenge on Duryodhan and starts training as a fighter under Baba Thakur played by Ajit Khan. After being fully trained, he avenges all of his enemies. Duryodhan is killed in the ring itself and Lal Bihari is killed by Suman.

The cinematography was done by Akram Khan while the story was written by Veeru Devgan, father of Ajay Devgn.

Soundtrack of Jigar
The music of the movie Jigar was composed by Anand-Milind while Sameer penned the songs. Singers like Kumar Sanu, Abhijeet, Pankaj Udhas, Udit Narayan, Sadhana Sargam, Mohammad Aziz and Kavita Krishnamurthy contributed their voice in this movie. The song "Pyar Ke Kagaz" proved to be the biggest hit of the movie Jigar.
