Although he wanted to become a Ghazal singer like his tutor, he ended up earning fame in the field of playback singing. His initial phase in Bollywood was marked by much struggle but gradually he gained prominence and established himself amongst the leading playback singers of Indian film industry. He has done playback singing for many famous Bollywood actors and has enthralled the music world with his appealing renditions.

Early Life of Javed Ali
Javed Ali was born in the year 1982 in Delhi. His tryst with the world of music occurred at a tender age when he began singing along with his father Ustad Hamid Hussain, a famous Qawwali singer. Javed Ali has received music training from the renowned Ghazal singer Ustaad Ghulam Ali. He was born as Javed Hussain but later in the honour of his Guru changed his name to Javed Ali. Previously Javed Ali aspired to become a Ghazal singer but later stepped into the Hindi film industry.

Career of Javed Ali
While performing in a stage show Javed Ali was noticed by the famed music composer Anandji-Kalyanji. Impressed by his singing they asked him to endeavour in the arena of playback singing. Initially he started his venture through advertisement jingles and title tracks for television soaps and gradually started singing for films. He made his debut in movies by singing a song for the movie Beti No.1 but could not garner much popularity. Subsequently he did playback singing for a number of films including Zindaggi Rocks, Neal `n` Nikki, Kyun...! Ho Gaya Na, Golmaal - Fun Unlimited, Dil Jo Bhi Kahey, Chameli and many others. However he rose to fame with his song `Ek Din Teri Raahon Mein` in 2007 for movie Naqaab, composed by Pritam Chakraborty. His Punjabi-based track `Nagaada Nagaada` for the 2007 movie Jab We Met also rendered him much prominence in Bollywood. In 2008 he voiced the composition of A. R. Rahman `Jashn-E-Bahaara` from the film Jodhaa Akbar. His other popular songs include `Tu Muskura` from Yuvvraaj, `Guzarish` from Ghajini and `Arziyaan` from Delhi-6 for which he received much appreciation. Other Bollywood flicks in which he has done playback singing are Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Tum Mile, Raavan, Rockstar, Ishaqzaade, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Raanjhanaa, Gunday and many more. He has also sung many songs for the South Indian films such as Vaamanan, Nanban, Thuppakki, Alex Pandian etc. Apart form playback singing, Javed Ali has also been the judge of a reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li`l Champs 2011 on Zee TV.
