Jaspal Rana, Indian ShooterJaspal Rana is an India shooter, who was born on June 28, 1976. He was a gold medallist at the 1994 Asian Games, 1998 Commonwealth Games - Men`s Centre Fire Pistol, Men`s Center Fire Pistol Pairs, 2002 Commonwealth Games - Men`s 25m Centre Fire Pistol, 2006 Commonwealth Games - Men`s 25m Centre Fire Pistol Pairs, and 2006 Asian Games.

Early Life of Jaspal Rana
Jaspal Rana was born in a Rajput family in Uttarkashi, in Uttar Pradesh (now Uttarakhand). Jaspal Rana grew up in Mussoorie, Dehradun Nainbagh. Later, he went to Delhi and studied at the K.V. Air Force Station Tughlqabad, and St. Stephen`s and Sri Aurobindo colleges. He was first trained under his father Narayan Singh Rana, who was an Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) official. Later on Tibor Ganazol coached him to perfection.

Jaspal Rana, Indian Shooter Career of Jaspal Rana
Jaspal Rana made his national debut at the age of 12, at the 31st National Shooting Championship at Ahmedabad (Gujarat) and won a Silver Medal. He shot into Standard Pistol shooting fame when he won a gold medal at the 46th World Shooting Championship (Junior Section) with a world record score at Milan, Italy, in 1994.

Later Career of Jaspal Rana
Jaspal Rana won his medals in the Centre Fire Pistol event, but has also won Air Pistol, Standard Pistol, Free Pistol and Rapid Fire Pistol events. He has won more than 600 Medals at the national and international levels. In the Asian Games 2006 at Doha, he equalled the world record in 25 meter centre Fire Pistol with 590 points. Jaspal Rana had made this score twice previously, which are in 1995 in Coimbatore, and in 1997 in Bengaluru in the national competitions. Jaspla Rana coaches at the Jaspal Rana Institute of Education and Technology in Dehradun. He is doing this training session to foster young shooters in India.

Political Career of Jaspal Rana
Jaspal Rana entered in Indian national and regional political scenario after he became the member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Jaspal Rana contested in 2009 Loksabha election from Tehri Gharwal seat representing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) but he lost to Vijay Bahuguna of Congress. Jaspal Rana joined the Indian National Congress (INC) in year 2012. Presently, he became the active member of Indian National Congress party

Awards received by Jaspal Rana
In the year 1994, Jaspal Rana was awarded 1994 Asian Games in Hiroshima. In 1994, Jaspal Rana was awarded Arjuna Award, the second highest award for achievement in sport, by the Government of India, at an age of eighteen. In the year 2006, he was awarded Gold Medal in Men`s 25m Centre Fire Pistol (Pairs) with Samaresh Jung at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. In the same year, he won the gold medals in 25m Standard Pistol and 25m centre Fire Pistol at the 2006 Asian Games on 7-8th December. By 21, he became Padma Shree award winner and in between he was awarded National Citizen Award by none other than Mother Teresa.

Personal Life of Jaspal Rana
Jaspal Rana is married to Reena Rana, a fashion designer and national level shooter. The couple is blessed with the two children, daughter Devanshi Rana, and son Yuvraj Rana.
