Jamshedpur in East Singhbhum District of Jharkhand is the rapidly increasing city in eastern part of Indian states. Jamshedpur is the third largest city in Jharkhand. It is also known as the first planned industrial city of eastern part of India.

Jamshedpur began its journey from modern era, when Jamsetji Tata began to establish the industrial area. With the help of Maharaja of Mayurbhanja, Jamsetji Tata along with some British businessmen stepped to establish Jamshedpur, as the steel city. The Gorumahisani hills of Babanghati region of the then Mayurbhanja state was the chosen as the main site for the establishment of steel industry. It is because there present huge amount of Hematite. After the establishment of industrial era in 1908, the city was formed gradually and within 1912, Jamshedpur was grown as the full of industrial city.

Jamshedpur is located at 22.8 degree North and 86.18 degree East. The average elevation of the city is 135 metres from the sea level. Subarnarekha River is the main river of Jamshedpur. There are many small rivers joined with Subernarekha and formed a place called the "River"s Meet."
