Jai Hind College, MumbaiJai Hind College is one of the premier educational institutions of Mumbai. It was established in the year 1948 by a group of dedicated teachers of the D.J Sind College Karachi. Jai Hind College is located at Churchgate, in the city of Mumbai, Maharashtra. Jai Hind College is an autonomous college, affiliated to the University of Mumbai.

Objective of Jai Hind College
Jai Hind College was established with the motto to impart knowledge and education to its students in such a way that they are able to achieve their dreams. The mission statement of the College is “To be the institution of choice for students and employers alike known for producing good citizens and leaders by providing a well rounded education of international standards.” The motto of the college "I will and I can" encourages and inspires the students to break the pre-conceived boundaries of performance. It encourages them to dream and to use the latest innovative ideas and technology to realize those dreams. The students of Jai Hind College truly believe that everything can be achieved and that the sky is the limit for them.

History of Jai Hind College
Jai Hind College commenced in September 1948, right after country`s partition and it was rather small in its inception. The major role behind the creation of Jai Hind College was that of the professors of D.J. Sind College, Karachi, assisted by a few others, who came together under the banner of Sind Educationists Association, headed by Principal T. M. Advani. Admission started for the Arts faculty in June 1948, with a formal inauguration in September 1948 at the Elphinstone College Library Hall. Further, in early 1949, Principal T.M. Advani arranged for a bungalow at Peddar Road to serve as a nucleus for a science college. At this stage, Bhagwansingh B. Advani, the sole trustee of the Basantsing Anil Dharmada Trust, stepped in with a generous donation. It was his wish to name the college as Jai Hind College and Basantsing Institute of Science. Morarji Desai, who was then the Home and Revenue Minister, finally sanctioned a plot for the Jai Hind College building. Being close to the Churchgate Railway Station, students from the suburbs found the college easily accessible.

Jaihind college enrolls students after 10th grade, for the higher secondary examination. It offers streams of Science, Commerce and Arts for Class 12 board examinations. It is affiliated with the Maharashtra Board of Higher Education. The college also offers bachelor`s degree in Science, Commerce and Arts. The main endeavour of Jai Hind College is to move beyond the conventional academic programmes in order to keep pace with the changing academic scenario. With this in mind the college has introduced several programmes that have been extremely well received by the students and prospective employers. It has also introduced a number of new subjects like commerce and an assortment of subjects, which include management studies, mass media, computer science, biotechnology; insurance and banking.

Students successfully completing the HSC examination are able to take admission for the three year under-graduate degree course which are courses like; Bachelor of Arts in English, Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Bachelor of Arts in History, Bachelor of Science (Computer Science), Bachelor of Science (Physics), Bachelor of Science (Chemistry), Bachelor of Science (Mathematics), Bachelor of Science (Botany), Bachelor of Science (Biotechnology), Bachelor of Science (Microbiology), Bachelor of Science (Life Science), Bachelor of Mass Media (B.M.M.), Bachelor of Management Studies (B.M.S.) and Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), etc.
