Not much is known about the ancient history of this Jagvallabh Parshwanath temple. But as per the scholars, this temple due to its ancient construction had gone several renovations.

Beauty of Jagvallabh Parsvanath Temple
This temple is renowned for Bhagvan Jagvallabh Parshwanath idol. The idol is seen sitting in the posture of Padmasana. Due to this shrine, a number of devotees flock to Shri Kumbhojgiri Teerth. The teerth is situated on a hill near the forest located close to Hathkalangad. The Jagvallabh Parshwanath Temple, established in 1859, comprises of 7 sikhars. Opposite to this temple, Taleti Dharmashala is located and 9 feet long cobras can be seen there. It is said that this temple is protected by these cobras and seeing these cobras fulfil desires of people.

The history of this Kumbhojgiri teerth is also not known much but is considered as one of the ancient teerths as per the Svetambaras. This teerth is reckoned as the Setrunjaya of South Maharashtra. Near the Kumbhojgiri Teerth another temple is established by the devotees. This temple is constructed in the shape of a ship and is known as Jahaz MandirÆ’. A beautiful and well maintained garden surrounds the temple.

The art and architecture of the Jagvallabh Parshwanath Temple deserves the admiration of the people having artistic bend of mind. Moreover, another temple in the name of Digambar temple is situated near this Jagvallabh Parshwanath temple.

People come in large numbers for the fairs that are held during the month of Kartik, Chaitra and Magasar.

Jagvallabh Parsvanath Temple can be easily accessed through railways and roads. Hathkalangad Railway Station is the nearest station which lies at a distance of 8 kms. Trains are available in the Kolhapur - Miraj railway. Bus services are also impressive and if preferred, one can also go by private cars.
