Jacob Joseph Martin is an Indian cricket player, born on 11th May 1972, from Baroda (Vadodara) in Gujarat. He is an Indian right-handed middle-order batsman who appeared 10 times for India at One day International Cricket matches.

Jacob Martin played well in the tour of Australia in 1999-2000. He did give enough evidence in his batting style. One of only half a dozen players in the history of the Ranji Trophy championship to get over 1000 runs in a season, Jacob Joseph Martin made 1000 runs for Baroda (Vadodara) during 1998-99. From there he became well known in national cricket arena.

Jacob Joseph Martin has the right approach and an ideal temperament and has the makings of a solid middle-order batsman. He was perhaps a bit unfortunate in that he was run out so often in Australia, more often than not because of some superb work in the field. But as he showed while making 39 in a losing cause against Pakistan in the Carlton and United series, he has a wide range of strokes, coupled with impeccable timing and technique. Jacob Joseph Martin is one who should be judged not just on facts and figures, but on style and attitude.

Jacob Joseph Martin shifted allegiance to Railways in the 2002-2003 domestic seasons before returning to represent Baroda Cricket Team, for four more seasons. Jacob Joseph Martin announced his retirement in the middle of the 2007-2008 seasons.

Jacob Joseph Martin made debut for Baroda Cricket Team in the 1991-1992 seasons in the Ranji Trophy. In his debut match, he took 5 wickets in an innings against Gujarat Cricket Team and scored a 50. Jacob Joseph Martin came to be regarded as a specialist batsman and an occasional part-time spin bowler. He has a total of 9 wickets including the 5 he took on debut.

Jacob Joseph Martin has played for Baroda Cricket Team throughout his career except during the 2002-2003 seasons when he played for Indian Railways. Jacob Joseph Martin has also captained Baroda Cricket team on a regular basis from the 2000-2001 season onwards, winning the Ranji Trophy in 2000-2001 and finishing as runners-up the following season.

Jacob Joseph Martin was most prolific in the season of 1998-1999. He scored 1037 runs for Baroda in the Ranji Trophy at an average of 103.70 including 5 centuries.

Jacob Joseph Martin made his One Day International debut against the West Indies in September 1999. He also played in the subsequent triangular One Day International series in Australia against Australia and Pakistan in January 2000.
