ISKON Temple better known as `Hare Rama Hare Krishna Temple` is situated at Juhu. It is a place for worship meditation and spiritual knowledge, which advocates the principles of Bhagavad-Gita as taught by Lord Krishna. It is dedicated to this very God, also known as Lord Radha Rasabihari. The ISKON Temple is situated on the prime land of Hare Krishna Land, sprawling over 4 acres, managed by the ISKON.
The Hare Rama Hare Krishna temple is a moving tribute to Srila Prabhupada`s genius and perseverance that has spread Krishna consciousness. At a stone`s throw distance away from Prithvi theatre, the temple is a connoisseur`s delight, the beautiful paintings inside and outside the building is spellbinding. Sri Radha Krishna statue in the central shrine is made of pure marble; to the left side of the statue there is another shrine of God Sri Ram with Sita and Lakshman. The ISKON Temple opened its gates to the public in the year 1978, since then it has been a haven of those who feel burdened with the daily materialism and artificiality of humanity. It is used mainly as the meditation ground, wherein one can participate in hypnotic mantras that is sure to detoxify one`s spiritual health and help in enlightenment for the serious seekers.
ISKON temple has all the features for a modern, pleasant stay. The complex has a spacious marble temple, a top-end auditorium, a book-publishing house, a restaurant and a twin-towered six-storied guesthouse where visitors can stay and be a part of the daily spiritual programs of the temple. Everyday 5000 pilgrims visit the temple and on Sundays the number spills to over 10 thousand. Janmashtami is the grandest occasion celebrated in August and September every year.
Dadar is the best place to disembark to reach ISKON temple (by train), in case one misses this stop, he/she can also get down at Victoria Terminus. From there one can hire a taxi to get to the destination.
