Ishant Sharma is an Indian cricketer, widely regarded as the fastest Indian bowler next to Javagal Srinath. He delivered the second fastest ball ever bowled by an Indian bowler.

Ishant Sharma, Indian Cricket PlayerIshant Sharma is famous Indian Cricketer who is a right-handed batsman and a right arm fast medium bowler. Sharma is a fast medium bowler and can bowl at about 80mph constantly. He can move the ball in both directions. Ishant Sharma is not a swinger and has a high arm delivery action. In the year 2006-2007 at the age of 18 he was invited to participate in the South Africa tour with the Indian national team. He was however later dropped from the squad.

Early Life of Ishant Sharma
Ishant Sharma was born on September 2, 1988 in Delhi. He is often called Lambu by his near and dear ones due to his tall build of 6 feet 4 inches. Sharma started playing cricket at the tender age of 14. In first-class cricket he represents Delhi. He is the fastest one still next to Javagal Srinath who clocked 154.5 at the 1999 World Cup.

Career of Ishant Sharma
Ishant Sharma plays domestic cricket for Delhi, he has picked-up 21 wickets in four first class matches including a 5 wicket pull against Baroda on the opening day of a match Delhi drew after failing to bowl Baroda out on the fourth day. He has also played for Under 19 against England on 2006 and Pakistan in 2007. He has delivered three youth tests and six youth One Day Internationals for India.

Ishant Sharma was called up in the Indian team at age of 18 against South Africa, in 2006, but not given chance to play. After this Ishant Sharma was ruled out of the team in May 2007. He was however, recalled in place of Munaf Patel for the second test against Bangladesh, where he delivered 78 balls with a wicket. He was also called in July-August 2007 for the England tour. In December 2007 he also played in the third Test Match during Pakistan`s tour of India. There he picked up 5 wickets. On 10th February 2008, Sharma picked up four important wickets in the 4th ODI of CB Series against Australia.

During the 2008 Test series against Australia in India, Ishant took 15 wickets, thus becoming the leading wicket-taker. India won the series by 2-0. Sharma thereby became the first Indian paceman to receive such a prestigious award in a Test series on Indian ground after Kapil Dev.

On 5th October 2010, Ishant helped VVS Laxman pick up a very doubtful win over Australia by one wicket in the First Test in Punjab Cricket Association Ground, Mohali. In the 2008 Indian Premier League, Sharma was a part of the Kolkata franchisee -Kolkata Knight Riders team. In the 2011 IPL, Sharma was bought by the Deccan Chargers. He bagged 5 wickets for 12 runs in 3.0 over against Kochi Tuskers Kerala and received the man of the match award.
