International Children’s Film Festival of India (ICFFI) is a colourful and grand event celebrated with the aim of showcasing national and international children’s films. It aims to educate and enlighten children through the mode of delightful entertainment.

International ChildrenInternational Children`s Film Festival of India (ICFFI) is a biennial event which presents the national and international children`s cinema to the young audiences of the country. The seven day festive celebration features a variety of genres of short and feature films and invites films fraternity and lovers from all around the globe. It is also popularly known as `The Golden Elephant` and is organized every two years by Children`s Film Society, India, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in collaboration with Government of Andhra Pradesh. The birth date of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, 14 November, marks the beginning of this event. This first Indian Prime Minister is also referred to as `Chacha Nehru` owing to his affection for children and thus his birthday is celebrated as Children`s Day. Soon after the country`s independence, Pandit Nehru had established Children`s Film Society, India (CFSI) with the aim of creating exclusive and indigenous films for children, which would help to develop their compassion, creativity and thought process films. The same vision however also guides ICFFI. The event firmly believes that cinema serves as a significant medium to mould to critical thinking of children in a better way and children`s films must cater their entertainment needs.

International Children Vision of ICFFI
In contemporary times entertainment world is much tainted with consumerist and violent content which greatly affects the progressive thinking of the children. ICFFI however is committed to promote non violent and humane concepts through films in a delightful and fun filled manner. The festival also takes special care to select the movies which helps to develop an understanding of other lifestyles, experiences and cultures in the children thereby encouraging them to reflect the same in the society. Open forums and workshops are also conducted during the festival with the purpose of inculcating creative pursuit and critical appreciations for art amongst the young generation. It also honours and appreciates the contribution of the filmmakers who create appealing portrayal of the gripping concepts for children.

Features of ICFFI
ICFFI is regarded as one of the most vibrant and largest children`s film festival throughout the world. It uses a visual medium for educational and spiritual upliftment among children. The viewers or the audience form the most alluring feature of the festival in which numerous children from far off places including towns and villages arrive. The event provides an excellent opportunity to watch several acclaimed international children`s films which are otherwise not much easily available. The children`s visiting the festival also get a platform for interacting with other youngsters, notable filmmakers and renowned guests from various parts of the globe. ICFFI is fully dedicated to the little delegates of the country and the eminent filmmakers who endeavours to portray unique concepts for children, the toughest audience of all. Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh has so far served as the permanent venue for all the editions of ICFFI. The 18th edition of ICFFI had been celebrated from 14th to 20th November 2013 which screened more than 150 films across the world.
