Intanki Wildlife Sanctuary
Preserved by the forest wildlife department, the Intanki Wildlife Sanctuary is home to the rare hoolock gibbon among other species of animals.

Intanki Wildlife Sanctuary, NagalandAlso known as the Ntangki National Park, the Intanki Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Peren district of the Indian state of Nagaland. Home to the hoolock gibbon, the sanctuary also has various species like the golden langur, hornbill, Asian palm civet, black stork, tiger, white breasted kingfisher, monitor lizard, python and sloth bear.

History of Intanki Wildlife Sanctuary
Initially a reserved forest, the Intanki Reserved Forest was established in 1923 and spread over an area of 181 sq. km. In the year 1927, the reserved forest was enlarged by 21 sq. km. And eventually in 1975, the Government of Nagaland declared the Intanki Reserved Forest as Intanki Wildlife Sanctuary with a total area of 202 sq. km. Later in 1993, it was converted to a national park and in 2005, the park was declared as an elephant reserve by the government.

Visiting Information on Intanki Wildlife Sanctuary
The Intanki Wildlife Sanctuary lies at a distance of 37 km from Dimapur and 111 km from Kohima. The Dimapur railway station and airport are the closest from the national park.
