Indian Table Tennis players have performed outstandingly in various international events and brought glory and happiness for their country. India is a vast country where the people, especially the young and enthusiastic students like to play Table Tennis, very much. As Table Tennis is played in most of the educational institutions throughout India, the country has produced a number of top class Table Tennis players, so far.

Among the numerous world class Indian Table Tennis players, there are some who stands apart. The players like Chetan Baboor, Mouma Das, Achanta Sharath Kamal, Kamlesh Mehta, Mir Khasim Ali, Monalisa Baruah Mehta, Neha Aggarwal, Poulomi Ghatak, Mantu Ghosh and many other players in India have earned significant recognition and reputation in the international arena. They have also won several medals and trophies for India to make their countrymen feel proud of them.

Chetan Baboor
Chetan Baboor is an Indian international Table Tennis champion and winner of the Arjuna Award for 1997 - an award recognizing outstanding achievement in sports in India. He belongs to the Babbur Kamme community of Holenarasipura, Karnataka. Chetan has won four national titles and double golds in Commonwealth Championships.

Soumyajit Ghosh
Soumyajit Ghosh is an Indian table tennis player from Siliguri, West Bengal. He was the youngest Indian player to qualify for the London, 2012 Olympics. He also became the youngest national champion at the age of 19, when he defeated Sharath Kamal in the 74th National Table Tennis Championships. Saumyajit Ghosh is supported by the Lakshya Foundation, Pune and has been part of their scholarship programme since 2016.

Subhajit Saha
Subhajit Saha is a professional table tennis player from West Bengal, India. He won the men`s doubles gold in the 19th Commonwealth table tennis championship held at New Delhi in 2010. He is from Siliguri, North West Bengal.

Santosh Araswilli
Santosh Araswilli an Indian professional table tennis player who currently plays with Cambados Tenis De Mesa Spain and achieved career best ranking 22 in the Indian Table Tennis National.

Mouma Das
Mouma Das is a table-tennis player from West Bengal, India. She was born and brought up in Kolkata. She was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2013.

A. Radhika Suresh is a Table Tennis player from Kerala. She is an Olympian and former National champion. She is employed at Indian Oil Corporation as Customer Services Executive. She also runs an academy at the Kadavanthra YMCA.

Amalraj Anthony Arputharaj
Amalraj Anthony Arputharaj born on 24 January 1986 is a professional table tennis player from Tamil Nadu India. He won silver medal at 2014 Commonwealth Games in doubles with Sharath Kamal.

Mir Khasim Ali
Mir Khasim Ali was India`s Men`s Singles Champion in table tennis from 1968 to 1969. He was honoured with the prestigious Arjuna award.

Indu Puri
Indu Puri is a former Indian international female Table tennis sportsperson in the 1970s and 1980s. She won the National women`s singles title a record eight times. Her highest rankings have been: international 63 (1985), Asian 8, and Commonwealth, she was the first Indian to beat a world champion, beating Pak Yung-Sun of North Korea in the 1978 Asian Table Tennis Championships at Kuala Lumpur.

Achanta Sharath Kamal
Achanta Sharath Kamal is a professional table tennis player from Tamil Nadu. His current world rank is 69nd in the World Rankings as of June, 2016. Achanta Sharath Kamal won the men`s singles gold in the 16th Commonwealth table tennis championship held at Kuala Lumpur in 2004. He is a recipient of the Arjuna award for the year 2004.

Gool Nasikwala
Gool Nasikwala is a former female table tennis player from India. In 1952 she won several medals in singles, and doubles events in the Asian Table Tennis Championships in Singapore.

Kamlesh Navichandra Mehta
Kamlesh Navichandra Mehta is an Indian retired table tennis player. In March 2017, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, appointed him as the national observer for table tennis.

Sathiyan Gnanasekaran
Sathiyan Gnanasekaran is an Indian table tennis player, ranked 160 in the world as of February 2016. He was a member of the Indian team that took the bronze in the 2011 Junior World Championships.

The game of Table Tennis started its journey during the 1930s and the Indian Table Tennis players started to show their excellence after the Second World War. India participated in the inaugural World Championships of Table Tennis and it also successfully hosted the World Championship in 1952. In both the tournaments, the Indian Table Tennis players played well and earned recognition.

In the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, when Table Tennis was included in the Olympics for the first time, the Indian Table Tennis players showed some excellent performances. Though, they could not win any medal from the Olympics, they were applauded by the spectators for the wonderful skills on the Table Tennis board. Apart from the Olympics, Indian Table Tennis players have performed well in the World Championships in Gothenburg, as well and finished at the 12th place, as a team. The Indian Table Tennis players have participated in the other regional championships like the Asian Games, SAF Games, etc, with distinction.
