History of Indian Magic
Although the origin of Indian magic dates back to the Vedic era, it was refined in the hands of Indian magicians of the later period. In ancient times, Indian magicians were often considered to be workers of mystical miracles, not simply entertainers.

Famous Indian Magicians
Some of the famous Indian Magicians are as follows;

P.C. Sorcar: Protul Chandra Sorcar, better known as P.C. Sorcar Senior, is known as the Father of Indian Magic. The very name of P.C. Sorcar evokes the sight of spectacular magic like the Rope Trick, the Flying Carpet and the X-Ray Eyes. On his onus lies the invention of some of the marvellous magical games ever produced in the world. The installation of his own creative magical work, "Ind-dra-jal" brought him tremendous acknowledgement and popularity. It was due to this contribution that Indian magic was still venerated by the people of the whole world. He was an enthusiast who wanted to impart his magical tricks among next generation magicians. He did form an organization namely "All India Magic Circle" to enable myriads of aspiring magicians to learn the nitty-gritty of magic.

P.C. Sorcar Junior: P.C. Sorcar Junior, the proud son of legend P. C. Sorcar, is thus carrying forward the legacy to its zenith. He has raised the prestige and quality of Indian magic further more by nicely incorporating an aura of mystery, spectacle and amusement. Due to him the Indian magical shows have nicely been enmeshed with intellectual fervour without losing its original charm and exuberance. Dramatic exuberance of his shows are further been accelerated due to the addition of folk and modern forms of music and classical dance. He is also associated with many theatres and artistic clubs throughout the world. P.C. Sorcar Junior got the "Oscar of Spain" for his stupendous production of magic.

Maneka Sorcar: This tradition of producing magical wonders is truly inherited by her elder daughter Maneka Sorcar. Although a new entrant, she has already proved her skills and artistry. She worked as an assistant to her father in several shows and had performed over 250 magic shows.

Vazhakunnam Neelakandam Namboothiri: Vazhakunnam Neelakandam Namboothiri was one of the pioneers in the arena of Indian magic. He was popularly known as the Grand Father of Kerala"s Magic. He produced a new meaning to magic in the state of Kerala. He took the initiative of transforming Magic from the street play to an exquisite form of art.

Prof. K. Bhagyanath: Among Indian magicians of earlier period, the name of Prof. K. Bhagyanath deserves special mentioning. His magical show was considered to be the chief magical amusement in the region of South India. He was the main source of motivation in laying the founding stone of the famous Fantasia Center. The majestic magical show, popularly called "FANTASIA" - was his brainchild.

Today the magic shows in India can easily stand in competition with any other dramatic performances.
