Ikshvaku Dynasty
Ikshvaku dynasty was a mythical dynasty founded by Ikshvaku, grandson of Vivasvan or Surya and son of Vaivasvata Manu.

Ikshvaku dynasty is also known as Suryavamsa. According to the Buddhist texts, Mahasammata, an ancestor of Ikshvaku was the founder of this dynasty. The Ikshvaku dynasty as mentioned in Jain literature includes twenty two Jain Tirthankaras. According to the Indian Puranas, sage Vashishta was the main teacher of the Ikshvaku dynasty. The word Ikshvaku in Sanskrit language means "sugarcane".

The Puranas provide a different genealogical list from Kusha to Brihadbala, who was killed by Abhimanyu in the war of Mahabharata. This is corroborated by the Raghuvamsha till Agnivarna[7]:

Ikshvaku dynasty in Jain beliefs
This dynasty has an important place in Jain beliefs, as all Tirthankaras except Munisuvrata and Neminatha were born in a royal house. Ikshvaku King Nabhi`s son Rishavadeva was the first Tirthankara. Ajitnatha, the second Tirthankara was the son of Ikshvaku King Jitashatru.
