The movie shows the story of the protagonists who are love partners, Prem played by Salman Khan and Nisha played by Madhuri Dixit. Their families, their friends, etc. all are involved in the central story. Their older brother and sister namely Rajesh played by Manish Behhl and Pooja played by Renuka Sahane get married. Pooja is very lively and homely. Everyone is very impressed with Pooja so they decide that for Prem also they will search a girl like Pooja.
Pooja delivers a baby boy. When she plans to visit her parent`s house Prem accompanies her, as Pooja`s husband is very busy because of their new business. Prem and Pooja start their journey. On the way it is revealed that Prem is in love with Pooja`s own sister Nisha. Pooja becomes excited as Nisha is just like Pooja and everybody in the family likes her a lot. Pooja becomes very happy on hearing the news and so she binds Nisha and Prem with her wishes by giving her the traditional necklace.
Pooja tries to call her husband and Prem`s elder brother but does not get the line. All of them were enjoying good time and it is then when Pooja falls down from their staircase and dies because of enormous blood loss. Pooja brought life to the family and after her death everyone lost it. Even their pet dog Tuffy felt that magical touch of Pooja. Rajesh feels very lonely without Pooja and everything went haywire. Both the parents decide to get Nisha married to Rajesh so that he does not feel lonely and their son gets a mother. When Nisha`s parents ask Nisha whether she want to be the daughter-in-law f that house, Nisha readily accepts the decision as she thinks that she is going to marry Prem.
But after getting the news of marrying Rajesh she becomes speechless. The two lovebirds decide to sacrifice the love for the family members and Rajesh. Their servant whom Pooja treated like her brother feels very sad on the whole thing. He prays to God to do something and stop the marriage. Nisha decides to give the necklace back to Prem gifted by Pooja. She writes a note and gives it to the dog with the necklace. The dog thinks something and takes the note and the necklace to Rajesh in stead of giving it to Prem. And here comes the magical twist.
