Hot Springs in Sikkim are known for their medicinal value. The most important are the ones located at Reshi, Yumthang and Ralang.

Hot Springs in SikkimSikkim is blessed with many natural Hot Springs. It is believed that these hot springs have medicinal value and therefore, they are ideal for taking a dip. High in Sulphur content, the steaming waters are believed to have great therapeutic properties. The average temperature of the water in these hot springs is close to 50 degree Centigrade.

Some of the popular Hot Springs in Sikkim are as follows:

Reshi Hot Spring: Reshi Hot Spring in Sikkim is located about 25 km from Gyalshing, near Reshi, on the banks of the Rangeet River. It is also known as "Phurchachu" or "Phur Tsa Chu". The water of this spring is high in sulphur content and is believed to have special therapeutic powers for skin diseases.

Borong and Ralong Hot Spring: Borong and Ralong Hot Springs are popular with locals and visitors from all over the region. These natural steaming saunas are said to have curative powers. These two springs are located at a distance of 7 km from each other. Borong Springs can be reached after a 7 km drive from Ralong and then a 40 minutes" walk downhill. The Ralong Springs can be reached after an hour long walk from Ralong Monastery.

Yumthang Hot Spring: Yumthang Hot Spring is a famous Hot Spring located some distance away from Yumthang village. To reach the hot spring, one has to walk for few minutes from the road of the village and cross the pedestrian bridge on the River Lachung. The hot water rich in sulphurated hydrogen gas from the spring is diverted to the pools.

Yumesamdong Hot Spring: Yumesamdong Hot Spring is located at the base of the Donkia-la Pass, a 25 km drive up from Yumthang. It is locally known as "Momay Samdong". There are about 14 sulphur hot springs around Yumesamdong. These springs are rich in sulphur content and are believed to have medicinal and dealing properties. The best part about this spring is that, it is mostly covered in snow and is located in a remote area.

Lhabha Tarum Hot Spring: Lhabha Tarum Hot Spring is located in the North Sikkim near Lachen. Nestled between the high altitude mountain peaks, this hot spring can be reached after a treacherous trek of 7 km from the Lhabha Valley. There are two hot water pools lying side by side. Due to the remote location, not many tourists visit this place and hence the water is very clean.

Few other lesser known hot springs found in Sikkim are Shagyong Hot Spring, Gangyap Hot Spring and Tholung Hot Spring.
