Holkar Cricket Stadium is situated in the state of Madhya Pradesh in the city of Indore. Previously it was named as Maharani Usharaje Trust Cricket Ground, which later got renamed as Holkar Cricket Stadium by the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association. It has a total seating capacity of 30,000 spectators. It is also properly equipped with flood lights for night matches.
This is the ground that stages maximum home matches for the Madhya Pradesh state team for the Ranji Trophy competition.
History of Holkar Cricket Stadium
The stadium has so far hosted two ODI matches, both of which are between India and England. The first match was staged on 15th April 2006, where India successfully chased 289 runs to complete a 5-0 white wash. The second international match was hosted two and half year later when English team toured again. The match ended with an India win again.
The Holkar Cricket Stadium hosted its first ever Indian Premier League matches on 13th May 2011. The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi is the home venue for the Indian Premier League team Kochi Tuskers Kerala and officially hosted 5 home-matches of the franchise. The remaining 2 home matches will be played at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore
