Hazaribagh National Park, JharkhandHazaribagh National Park is one of the famous tourist spots of Jharkhand, which includes a wide range of wild animals as well as natural vegetation of the area. Though quite similar in its features with Betla National Park, this is another famous wildlife sanctuary of Jharkhand. It is located near Hazaribagh town and Ranchi. Along with its wild life collection the area also includes a number of towers which help the tourists to have a complete view of the sanctuary. Tiger Falls, Padma Palace of the Raja of Ramgarh and Tilayia Dam are the nearby places to this national park.

History of Hazaribagh National Park
Hazaribagh National Park was developed in the year 1954. It was a popular national park, but was not included in the formal list of national parks by the United Nations. On 24th June 2007, Deputy Chief Minister of Jharkhand announced that soon this national park will have a "state-of-the-art" Elephant Park.

Hazaribagh National Park is located on the Chotanagpur Plateau. The stretch of the park is over 184 sq. km. with steep hills, tropical forests and grass meadows. The national park is located at an altitude of 615 meters. Small rivers and numerous dams have been constructed within the park area to form artificial lakes.

The sanctuary includes large number of panthers, sambhars, spotted deer, bison, sloth bear and limited number of Royal Bengal Tigers. Along with the rare animals the sanctuary also includes some common animals like Cheetals, Kakar, Nilgai, Sambar and Wild Boar that are easily spotted and are commonly found in the area. It has been estimated that there are nearly 14 tigers in the sanctuary which is a matter of concern for the nation.

Climate of Hazaribagh National Park
The climate in the area of Hazaribagh National Park is tropical with hot summers and cool winters. Temperature during summer time becomes 41 degrees centigrade in highest; and during winter times the temperature becomes 7 degrees centigrade in lowest. July to mid-September are the months of monsoon.

Visiting Information to Hazaribagh National Park
Nearest airport to the sanctuary is at Ranchi (91 km); nearest railway station is Koderma (59 km) and Hazaribagh Road Railway Station (67 km). Hazaribagh town is well connected by road to Ranchi, Dhanbad (128 km), Gaya (130 km), Patna (235 km), Daltongunj (198 km), and Kolkata (434 km). Regular buses are available to the sanctuary.
