Hanumant Singh was an Indian Cricket Player of both national and internationally acclaimed, played in 14 Test Matches for Indian cricket team.

Early Life of Hanumant Singh
Hanumant Singh was born on 29th March in the year 1939 in Rajasthan. He was the widely acclaimed player in Indian cricket scenario. Hanumant Singh played in 14 Tests for the Indian cricket team from the year 1964 to 1969. Hanumant Singh was later an International Cricket Council match referee in 9 Tests and 54 One Day Internationals from the year 1995 and 2002. Hailing from Banswara in Rajasthan, Hanumant Singh was the second son of Chandraveer Singh, Maharawal of Banswara, who ruled this pace from 1944 to 1985. His mother was the sister of Kumar Duleep Singh, making him the grandnephew of Kumar Shri Ranjit Singh.

Career of Hanumant Singh
Hanumant Singh played the domestic first-class cricket for Madhya Bharat and then Rajasthan and Central Zone, and was known as "Chhotu" as a result of his short stature. He batted well from the back foot, particularly working the ball on the leg side. Hanumant Singh made his Test debut in the 4th Test against England Cricket team at Delhi in February 1964. There he scored 105 and so becoming the fifth Indian to make a Test century on debut, following Lala Amarnath, Deepak Shodhan, A. G. Kripal Singh and Abbas Ali Baig. Later that year, Hanumant Singh reached 94 in his first Test against Australia, out of a total of 193. He also played at home against New Zealand in 1964-5 and against West Indies in 1966-1967, and toured England Cricket Team in the year 1967. However, like many other prominent Indian players, Hanumant Singh was surprisingly excluded from the 1967-1968 tour to Australia. Recalled to play against New Zealand at Bombay (Mumbai) in September 1969, he scored 1 and 13, caught behind both times off the fast bowling of Dayle Hadlee, and did not play Test cricket again. He never scored a second Test century.

Later Career of Hanumant Singh
Hanumant Singh continued to perform well in Indian domestic cricket, after retiring from international cricket arena. Hanumant Singh was captain of Rajasthan in three Ranji Trophy finals, but lost each time. Hanumant Singh also captained Central Zone to its first victory in the Duleep Trophy in 1971 to 1972. In the Ranji Trophy final in 1966-1967, Hanumant Singh scored 109 and 213 not out against Bombay Cricket Team. His older brother, Suryaveer Singh, made 79 and 132 in the same match, and they shared partnerships of 176 and 213. Hanumant Singh retired from first-class cricket in the year 1979. Hanumant Singh also served as the Manager of the Indian Cricket Team that toured the West Indies in 1983, and he served as an International Cricket Council match referee in 9 Tests and 54 One Day Internationals from March 1995 to February 2002. He was also chairman of the National Cricket Academy, based in Bengaluru. He served coach for Rajasthan Cricket Team. Outside cricket, Hanumant Singh was an executive for State Bank of India.

Hanumant Singh died in Mumbai of lung and kidney failure on 29th November 2006, after contracting from dengue fever or dandak jwara and hepatitis B.
