The D.A.V. College managing committee had laid the foundation of Hans Raj College in 1948. It is the first college of Delhi University and the first Central University College to raise a Monumental National Flag in its premises, which was started by Flag Foundation of India (NGO).

Hans Raj College is situated in Mahatma Hans Raj College Road, at the core of the North Campus of Delhi University. Male students can acquire hostel facilities.

History of Hans Raj College
Initially started as an institution for men, the college became co-educational in 1978. Hans Raj College was established by the D.A.V. College Managing Committee in 1948 on July 26, in remembrance of the famous Indian educator and nationalist Mahatma Hansraj. The second Monumental Flagpole in Delhi was hoisted by the Hans Raj College on 25th January 2017.
