Hand covers a significant position in the science of Palmistry. Several books of Palmistry like "Hasta Sanjivani" and "Bhavishya Purana" that had discussed in details the significance of hands in the science of Palmistry. It has been said in the "Hasta Sanjivani" that there is nothing in the three worlds for knowledge besides the hand, which can be read like a book. In India, palmistry has always been a subject of great interest for ages immemorial. Palmistry is considered as an important way to predict the future. This science is mainly concerned about the complicated lines drawn over the palms. God, the supreme artist to determine the future has depicted the future incidents or happenings by means of lines on a human hand.
Structure of Hand
The structure of the hands determines several significant aspects of human character. The wrist acts as the link in joining the hand to the arm. The forepart of the wrist is called "palm". The lines and characters, which nature has imprinted on hand, are very important for a palmist. Those lines and characters on hand appeared as the "Divine Judgment" as is said by Aristotle. As per palmistry, the lines imprinted on hand determined the conditions, inclinations and fortunes of individuals. 
Types of Hand
According to Palmistry, there are different kinds of hands. However, the hand of every individual is unique. It is the hand, which reflects the nature of the person. According to palmistry, there are five kinds of hands namely;
•Ordinary hand,
•Very small hand,
•Small hand,
•Very long hand and
•Long hand.
Reading of Hand
The mounts of the hand determine the strengths and weaknesses in the personality. Further, it is the lines and marks of a hand that show a bright picture of events taking place in one"s life. However these marks and lines may change from time to time depending on the planetary energies, which vary from time to time. A careful observation of the lines and the mounts portray in the hand represented all these factors, to understand what the person is and what his future will be.
