Haathi Parvat or Elephant Peak is a mountain in the Garhwal Himalayas, Uttarakhand. There are two huge rocks on the mountain known as Kaaka and Garuda.

Haathi Parvat, UttarakhandHaathi Parvat, popularly known as Elephant Peak, is a mountain in the Garhwal Himalayas in India. It is named so as its top resembles the hump of an elephant. Haathi Parvat is situated in the Uttarkhand state of India.

Haathi Parvat is situated in the Chamoli district in the state of Uttrakhand.

Features of Haathi Parvat
The summit of Haathi Parvat has an elevation of 6,727 m above sea level. The geographical coordinates of Haathi Parvat is 30 degree 41`06 N and 79 degree 42`21 E.

There are two gigantic rocks on Elephant Peak that are described as Kaaka (Crow) and Garuda (Eagle). Guari Parvat and Kagbhusandi Tal lie in the region of Haathi Parvat. Some of the other places in the vicinity are Shyama, Juma, Jelam and Bhiundhar.

Mythological Story of Haathi Parvat
According to local legends, it is believed that the Kaaka vigorously converses with Garuda on the affairs and issues of the universe. Other legends mention that scholarly Brahmin from Ayodhya incurred rage of the sage Lomas who resided on the mountain peak and was transformed into the form of a crow by sage Lomas.

Accessibility of Haathi Parvat
Elephant Peak can be accessed from Ghangaria or Visnuprayag, which is near the Valley of flowers. Even though the way from Ghangaria is comparatively easier but it is a longer route. There is an 18 km bridle path from Govind-Ghat which runs through the Bhuyandar valley (Bhiundar) and Bhiundhar village up to Ghangaria. The area is drained by the Dhauliganga River which flows nearby.
