Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya , Haridwar, UttarkhandGurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya located in the holy city of Haridwar in Uttarkhand has acquired the status of a Deemed University. It is actually located in the village of Baradabad of Haridwar. Swami Shraddhananda, a member of the Arya Samaj established the Institute in 1902.

The Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya , Haridwar was established with aim of reviving the ancient Hindu educational system of Gurukul. The impetus for establishing such kind of University was provided by Swami Dayanand Saraswati, the founder of Arya Samaj. In 1922, a similar institution was established for the girls, which was named Kanya Gurukul Mahavidyalaya at Dehradun. At present, the Kanya Gurukul Mahavidyalaya was shifted from Dehradun to Haridwar besides Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya , Haridwar.

The University Grants Commission in 1962 granted the status of a Deemed University to the Institute. The Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya , Haridwar offers education in modern sciences, technology and management along with subjects like Vedic literature, Indian philosophy and culture.
