Gurpreet Singh Sandhu was born on 3rd February in the year 1992 in Punjab. He is an Indian footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Norwegian club Stabaek in Tippeligaen.

Gurpreet Singh Sandhu was born on 3rd February in the year 1992 in Mohali of Punjab, India, part of the Chandigarh tri-city. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu took up the game of football at the age of 8.

Career of Gurpreet Singh Sandhu
Gurpreet Singh Sandhu started playing when he joined the St. Stephen`s Academy in 2000. After good performances at the St. Stephen`s Academy, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu was selected for state youth team, the Punjab U16s. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu made his youth state level debut in 2006 in Haldwani. He stayed at St. Stephen`s Academy till 2009 when he joined I-League side East Bengal Football Team as a youth player. He spent the rest of 2009 as a youth player for Kingfisher East Bengal.

Career of Gurpreet Singh Sandhu
In the year 2010, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu officially signed a professional contract with East Bengal Football Club. Due to injuries to East Bengal number 1 Abhra Mondal, Gurpreet managed to get five caps for East Bengal before the end of the 2009-10 I-League. For the 2010-11 I-League season, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu went out on loan to AIFF XI in the hope to gain some playing time. He ended the season with no caps for AIFF XI or Indian Arrows as they were called at the end of the season (now Pailan Arrows). For the 2011-12 I-League Gurpreet went back to East Bengal and became the number 2 goalkeeper during the 2011 Indian Federation Cup. After the Federation Cup ended Gurpreet Singh Sandhu became the formidable keeper for East Bengal for the I-League campaign. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu started the first game with East Bengal of the 2011-12 I-League campaign in there 0-1 loss to Churchill Brothers. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu then made his club international debut on 6th March 2012 in the 2012 AFC Cup against Al-Oruba.

Gurpreet Singh Sandhu is the first Indian National Football player since 1936 to play for a top division European club and the fifth Indian player to play professionally in Europe after Mohammed Salim (footballer), Baichung Bhutia, Sunil Chetri and Subrata Pal. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu signed for Norwegian club Stabaek on 15 August 2014. On 18th January 2015, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu made his senior debut for the club in a friendly match against second-tier side Follo FK in a 4-1 win.

Gurpreet Singh Sandhu made his debut for the India"s U19 National Football team against the Iraq U19 National Football Team in 2010 AFC U-19 Championship qualification on 5th November 2009. He was then surprisingly called up to the Indian national football team 2011 AFC Asian Cup 23-man squad. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu made his debut against Turkmenistan Football Team in a 1-1 draw.
