It is nestled amidst Sahyadri mountain range and Arabian Sea. The beach is situated within 200 metres of the town. Guhagar beach which is about 6 kilometres long is a fine place to get a glimpse of the Konkani culture. It offers splendid travelling experience. Ever year, this uncontaminated beach lures tourists from various corners of the country.

The term Guhagar means cave house in local language.

This secluded virgin beach is enveloped by beautiful mountains and lush green valley. It is home to miles of pristine, silky, white sand and shelters mesmerising waterfalls. It is lined with shady Suru trees. The Guhagar beach is notable for its tropical fruits like Alphonso mangoes, coconuts, cashew nuts, jackfruits, betel nuts and large variety of fresh sea food. It is also an ideal place for sunbath during summer. People can also visit the nearby heritage temples and the ancient fort. Vyadeshwar temple located right in the centre of the Guhagar town is the most popular amongst all. Ganesh Chaturthi, a festival celebrated here during September with much pomp and show, is also a great crowd puller.

The ideal time to explore the beach is winter that is from November to February because the temperature is on lower side. Guhagar is the most favoured tourist hotspot so it provides an impressive number of accommodations options. The best way to reach this beach is by road. Tourists can avail Maharashtra State Transport (S.T) buses that ply from Mumbai, Thane and Pune. The S.T. Bus depot is located right in the centre of Guhagar Town. The closest railhead is Chiplun. This long lonely beach is a perfect gateway to rural tourism.
