Graduate Record Examination (GRE) measures the potential of the candidate opting for higher studies abroad.

The GRE (Graduate Record Examination) is a standardized examination conducted by the ETS (Educational Testing Services), United States of America. GRE (Graduate Record Examination) measures the potential of a candidate which almost all the graduate schools and universities abroad demand for the purpose of admission in different streams like Graduate studies, Fellowships Programs and Research Programs etc. However, a high score in GRE (Graduate Record Examination) alone does not guarantee admission to any of the colleges or universities. But still the test can be looked upon as the first major hurdle to be cleared in the process of getting admission in the Graduate school of choice.
GRE is administered worldwide in two separate sets by Educational Testing Services, United States.

Eligibility:
The prospective graduates can take the GRE tests. The admissions authorities or fellowship panels to supplement undergraduate academic, extracurricular records and other qualifications for graduate study may use GRE scores. Like GMAT, a GRE test scores are valid for five years and most universities accept scores up to five years old.

Contents of the test:
GRE (Graduate Record Examination) is administered by educational testing services as two separate tests, namely,

•GRE General Test:
The GRE General Test measures critical thinking, analytical writing, verbal reasoning and quantitative reasoning skills of an individual.
A candidate may take the General Test only once per calendar month and not more than 5 times within any 12-month period.


•GRE Subject Test:
The GRE Subject Tests analyses the undergraduate achievement in eight disciplines listed below:
1. Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology
2. Biology
3. Chemistry
4. Computer Science
5. Literature in English
6. Mathematics
7. Physics
8. Psychology Test Schedule
The GRE Subject Test are given three time a year.

Registration:
Registrations for GRE (Graduate Record Examination) can be done either online or by mail. There are certain testing arrangements provided by the ETS (Educational Testing Services) for Disabled Test Takers. The details about the special tests can be seeked from the website: www.ets.org
