Etymology of Govindaraopet
The village got its name from the name of the Hindu God, Govindarajulupet. The story narrates that the founders of the village found Govindarajulu Swamy Idol before formation of the village. Hence, they named village name as Govindrajulupet, now it is Govindaraopet. At the same place where the idol was found, villagers constructed a temple by the name Govindaraja Swamy Temple.

Telugu is the local language of Govindaraopet. As of census 2011, the total population of Govindaraopet is 29,265 which are spread across total 40 villages and 8 panchayats. The literacy rate of Govindaraopet is 67 percent.
