Gohana
Gohana is a city in Sonipat district of Harayana.

Gohana is a city in Sonipat district of the northern state of India, Harayana. It is located between 29.13° North latitude and 76.7° East longitude at an average elevation of 225 metres (738 feet) above mean sea level.

In ancient times, Gohana was known as Gavambhavana and was a very sacred place. It was the seat of Rajput power. Prithviraj Chauhan did construct a fort here. However this fort was destroyed in 1192 by Muhammad Ghori right after he defeated Prithviraj. Later it became the home of the Taga Brahmans.

According to the 2001 India census report, Gohana had a population of 48,518 inhabitants. Males constitute 53% of the population and females constitute 47% of the population. In Gohana, 15% of the population is less than six years of age. Gohana has an average literacy rate of 67% which is higher than the national average literacy rate of 59.5%. The male literacy rate is 74% and the female literacy rate is 60%.
