It is situated on the Shimla- Dharamshala National Highway. Hari surrounds Ghumarwin in the north (13 km.) Dahar in the east (10 km.) and Bilaspur in the south (13 km.) The nearest railway station is the Kiratpur Sahib Railway Station and the nearest airport is at Shimla.

According to the 2001 India census report, Ghumarwin had a small population of 5720 inhabitants. Males constitute 53% of the population and females constitute 47% of the population.
