Ghugus is a commercial town in Chandrapur district of the western state of India, Maharastra. It is located on the banks of the Wardha River with Chandrapur town, the district headquarters at a distance of 17 km. in the west. It shares its borders with the Yavatmal district. Tadali lies in the northeast at a distance of 13 km. and Chandur lies in the south of Ghugus at a distance of 23 km. The nearest airport is at Sonegaon and the nearest railway station is the Chandrapur Railway Station. It is located between 19.93° North latitude and 79.13° East longitude at a height of 189 metres (620 feet) above mean sea level.
According to the 2001 India census report, Ghugus had a population of 29,921 inhabitants. Males constitute 52% of the population and females constitute 48% of the population. In Ghugus, 13% of the population is less than six years of age. The town has an average literacy rate of 73%, which is higher than the national average literacy rate of 59.5%. The male literacy rate is 79% and the female literacy rate is 67%.
Tadoba - Andharai Tiger Reserve, Bhamragarh Wildlife Sanctuary and Chaprala Wildlife Sanctuary are major wildlife sanctuaries in the district, which are easily accessible from Ghugus. The Tadoba Museum is also an exciting destination.
