Indian Hindi TV serial `Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyann` is a family drama telecasted on Zee TV from 2006 to 2009. It was produced by Dheeraj Kumar and Zuby Kochar under the banner of Creative Eye Ltd. while the director of the show was Rajan Shahi. The storywriters are Shashi Mittal and Damini Shetty and screenplay is written by Damini Shetty. The main star cast of the show was Kshitee Jog/Richa Mukherjee, Aleeza Khan/Neeta Shetty, Smriti Mohan, and Twinkle Bajpai/Gunjan Walia - they all were in lead roles. `Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyann` was also dubbed into Arabic, English, French and Indonesian languages. This serial is popularly known as "Betiyann".

Plot of Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyann
This is the story of a Gujarati family that depicts the mindset of most of the middle and upper middle class families of the society. It shows the psychology of a group of people who believe that society can be run and governed by men only. Suryakant Garodia played by Yatin Karyekar is one of these groups. He is a respected businessman of the city. His family is into business for past four generations and they make traditional Gujarati `bandhanis` and because of this reason he is one of the most respected and richest individuals of the area. For him his work is not just a business but it`s a matter of pride. After the birth of three daughters when his wife is pregnant for the fourth time, Suryakant becomes tensed about his next generation. One question arises in his mind that who will maintain his business and his family. This time Suryakant is very hopeful of having a son. In fact, his family pandit has predicted that this time there are no chances of anything going wrong. Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyann deals with the status of female child in society and how every family wants a boy to continue the family name. Finally the day comes when all are hoping that this Diwali will mark the entry of the heir to their family. Suryakant`s mother, too, is very hopeful and pressure is building up on Savitri. However, finally as Savitri gives birth to a baby girl, all dreams, expectations and hopes are shattered for one more time. Savitri feels helpless with her three daughters Saraswati, Gauri, Durga and now Laxmi; later Jhumki enters the story after a while. The newly born baby girl is not welcomed by anyone in the family except her mother and sisters. Things become more complicated when doctors declare that because of some biological problems Savitri will never be able to conceive in future. Their family pandit suggests that Suryakant has a `putr-yog` and can be blessed with it but for that some decision should be made. Suryakant is determined of having a son in life so he takes a drastic decision and one fine morning came home with a girl named Menka. Savitri remains shocked but as Suryakant is supported by his mother and sisters Savitri has to accept Menka in her life. She has to leave her room also because of Suryakant`s second wife. Menka, after few days gets pregnant and on the next Diwali, much to the family`s delight, delivers a son, Yuvraj. Suryakant`s life changes and now he is the happiest man on the earth. Menka becomes dominant in the house and Savitri and her daughters are pulled down. Suryakant & his family, least bothered about the existence of his first wife and four daughters, is happy in their new world with Menka and Yuvi. The children start to grow up under the same roof and every wish of Yuvraj becomes the command at home & his four elder sisters remain sidelined & sacrificed. In this situation only child Lakshmi becomes rebellious in the Garodia family who always opposes against any injustice. When everything goes on like this, Menka"s brother Rasik tells her to get all the daughters married so that she can rule in this family alone. So, Menka along with Suryakant made conspiracy and fix Saraswati"s marriage with a tyrant named Bhavishya Kapadia. And meanwhile Lakshmi falls in love with Satyakaam, Bhavishya"s younger brother, who is a good man. But Menka tries to fix her marriage with Chatainyan, who is a business partner of Suryakant. At this moment, Yuvraj goes to a bordel and falls in love with a courtesan named Kajri and tries to marry her. So he presented Kajri as a princess and the owner of the brothel house as her mother who belong from a royal family. But later their plan got exposed by the sisters. Bhavishya once tried to burn Saraswati for which Suryakant filed a case against him to put him in jail. Initially, he failed to do that and Bhavishya got freed from jail easily with the help of Yuvraj by blackmailing him to expose his secret. But later Bhavishya also went to jail finally by the three sisters protagonists of "Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyann". Later, Saraswati married to Kshitij, her lover before marriage, as she is supposed to be carrying Bhavishya"s baby. Satyakam dies leaving Lakshmi in sorrow when their marriage is fixed and when she moves to a friend"s place of Durga to get out of this trauma then she falls in love with Karan and marries him. But later she comes to know that Karan is actually playing game with her family as he wanted to take revenge from Suryakant to disgrace his family and sexually abuse his mother. But later it is revealed that it was not Suryakant behind this disgrace and abuse but Rasik. Lakshmi cannot divorce Karan as they were expecting a baby. Then Durga also falls in love with Ranbir Dhawaan who looks like Bhavishya, which scares Saraswati initially. At last the protagonists get rid of all the odd situations and prove that they are equal to men from every aspect. The central plot of `Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyann` concentrates on the women power of the society whereas partially it also revolves around the patriarchal society of India.
