Ghanam Krishna Iyar, Indian Music ComposerGhanam Krishna Iyar was born in the year 1790. He was well-known for the composition of popular padams. These padams are basically songs which have expressive tunes of minimum of three stanzas. It is mainly used as an accompaniment of classical Indian dance. Krishna Iyar was a diligent student of the renowned composer, Pacchimiriam Adiyappa. Apart from this, he was also greatly influenced by Tyagaraja and Gopalakrishna Bharathi. The title Ghanam, which associated with music, means `deep` or `grand`, relates to his style of singing.

He met Tyagaraja and composed and sang Summa Summa Varuguma Sugam in raga Atana. Hi mudras included Muttukumaara and Velar.

Ghanam Krishna Iyar died in the year 1854.
