Gavin FerreiraGavin Ferreira, an international field hockey player presently resides in Orlem, Malad Mumbai. In several international hockey tournaments, Gavin Ferreira has played for India. This includes the 996 Olympics held at Atlanta.

Former international and Air India forward, Gavin Ferreira was conferred with the esteemed post of coach of the team, which will be participating for the first, time in the six-a-side hockey competition that is part of the Indoor Asian Games.

The Indoor Asian Games are scheduled to be held in Macau, China from October 26 to November 3. Gavin Ferreira is already stimulated about the new assignment. As he said "The coaching assignment has come as a surprise for me. I have been involved in coaching juniors but never a national side. But during my stint in the European leagues I have played a lot of indoor hockey and that experience will be of big help" Gavin Ferreira for the tournament will be carrying on a camp in Bangalore.

This 36-year-old, hockey player is not at all bothered to know about the result of the competition but he is surefooted enough that India wouldn`t have trouble adapting to this new form of hockey. As he says, "The beauty of indoor field hockey is that it helps player, especially forwards, to improve their finishing skills. There are no positions, no designated midfielders. A player has to both defend and attack."
