Gauripur is a small town in Dhubri district of the northeastern state of Assam. Guwahati, is located in the west at a distance of 290 km. in the west. The district headquarters, Dhubri is located at a distance of 18 km. from Gauripur. The nearest airport is at Guwahati and the nearest railway station is the Dhubri Railway station. It is located between 26.08° North latitude and 89.97° East longitude at a height of 26 metres (85 feet) above mean sea level.
According to the 2001 India census report, Gauripur had a population of 23,477 inhabitants. Males constitute 52% of the population and females constitute 48% of the population. Panch peer Dargah and the Gurdwara of Guru Teg Bahadur at Dhubri are some places of tourist interest in the vicinity. The Chakrashila Wildlife Sanctuary, which is the home to numerous mammals, birds and reptiles, is also an interesting tourist spot in the surrounding area.
