Garoth is a city in the Malwa region and district of Madhya Pradesh state of India. It is the administrative headquarters of Garoth district. It is home to various communities like Khati, Porwal, Agrawal, etc. The people of this city mostly speak Hindi and Malvi which is a mixture of Rajasthani and Hindi languages. The city is rich in archaeological and historical heritage.

Geography of Garoth
The city is spread in an area of 9,791 km². It forms the northern projection of Madhya Pradesh from its western Division, i.e., Ujjain Commissioner`s Division. The district is part of the Malwa region, and is bounded by Neemuch District to the north, Rajasthan state to the east.

According to 2012 India census, the city had a population of 1, 89,729 of which males were 51% and females were 49%. In Garoth, 15% of the population was under 6 years of age. On the basis of the report of same year, the city had an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%. The male literacy was 76% and female literacy was 50%.

The climate of this district is generally dry except in south-west monsoon. The city faces cold from December to February and hot from March to the middle of June. Thereafter, the south west monsoon season starts and continues up to about the middle of September. The average annual rainfall is 786.6 mm.

Temples of Garoth
There are several temples in the city like Dharma Rajeshwar Temple, Chamunda Mata Temple, Shri Kaleshwar Temple, Ambe Mata Temple etc. Dharma Rajeshwar Temple is carved out of a rock and its architecture is compared with Kailash Temple of Ellora. Chamunda Mata Temple is dedicated to Chamunda who is closely associated with Kali. Shri Kaleshwar Mandir is dedicated to the village deity, Shri Kaleshwar, who is also called Kaloba. Ambaji Mata Temple is a major Shakti Peeth of India. These temples are visited by both local and distant tourists.
