The Gangeshwar temple and its five well-defined lingas are deeply revered and worshipped by the devotees. However during high tide, the lingams are not entirely visible. So, at this time people may only be able to view the tip of the lingams as they are submerged under water.
Mythological Story of Gangeshwar Temple
According to the common beliefs of the people, these Shiva lingas were established by the five Pandava brothers of the great epic Mahabharata. It is said that the Pandavas had established the lingas during their anonymous stay in the jungle when they were banished for 12 years from their kingdom Hastinapur.

The nearest airport of Gangeshwar temple is located in Diu at Nagao. Diu has no railway station. The closest railway station is situated at Veraval. It is located about 90 kms from Diu. Diu has good road connectivity. One can easily avail state transport buses and private coaches from various cities like Baroda, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Junagadh and Veraval to reach Diu. The ideal time to visit this temple is during the months of October and May.
