Galgibag Beach is one of the remote beaches of Goa. This sea beach of Goa is situated at about 16 kilometres south of Chaudi. Chaudi is a town in the South Goa district. This is approximately two kilometres from Canacona. The person living in Chaudi is usually speaking Konkani Language.
Galgibaga beach is a remote beach, but this beach is one of the hotspot in Goa Tourism. Galgibaga beach can be reached by walking south from the Talpona beach of Goa that is situated nearby.
Galgibag beach is an isolated beach where one can come to enjoy the serenity and isolation. The beach of Galgibag is fringed by fir trees, is known as it is the other spot in Goa. Near, Galgibag beach, there is another beach called Morjim beach is located. Galgibag beach and Morjim beach are famous for Olive Ridley turtles. These two beaches are the abode of Olive Ridley turtles. Galgibag beach also provides Olive Ridley turtles for breeding during the month of November.
Galgibag Beach attracts a large number of tourists. But this sea beach is not safe for swimming. Galgibag Beach also provides the leisure tourism activities and water-sports activities. This sea beach is a perfectly serene beach, still spotless fringed by casuarinas trees that sway cautiously in the lilting sea breeze.
Galgibag Beach has a village community that are peace-loving fisher-folk. Fishing is the economic pillar for the people of Galgibag. The sea is their wealth and before the onset of the fishing season, they offer their heartfelt prayers in veneration of the sea gods. Near Galgibag Beach, there is another sea beach which also offers the water-sports activities through out the year is Talpona Beach. Talpona beach is another place in the hinterland of Canacona, South Goa District of Goa. This spot is less exploited and this has added to its virgin nature. Talpona beach also serves as an ideal picnic spot and a birdwatchers` paradise because of the adjoining Talpona River that houses mangrove vegetation in Goa. In the mangrove forest, there are Rhizophora species and it serves as a resting ground for birds. The surrounding village area near Talpona Beach and Galgibag beach is equally sedate and welcoming for the tourists.
