Gadarwara is a small town in Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh. Narshingpur, the district headquarters is situated at a distance of 42 km. and is very close to the Narmada Valley. It is situated in the Narmada-Som tectonic zone. The nearest airport is at Jabalpur and the nearest railway station is the Narsinghpur Railway Station. State Highway 44 passes through this town. It is located between 22.92° North latitude and 78.78° East longitude at a height of 342 metres (1122 feet) above mean sea level. The Sakkar river traverses through Gadarwara.

According to the 2001 census report, Gadarwara had a population of 37, 837 inhabitants. Males constitute 53% of the population and females constitute 47% of the population. In Gadarwara, 13% of the population is less than six years of age. This town has an average literacy rate of 71% which is higher than the national average literacy rate of 59.5%. The male literacy rate is 77% and the female literacy rate is 65%.

The town is very famous for cultivation of pulses especially arhar or tuwar dal.
