North Western Ghats Moist Deciduous Forest has an area of 48,200 square kilometers. It is bounded on the west by the Malabar Coast moist forests eco region, which lies between the 250 meter elevation and the Arabian Sea. At its northern end, the eco region extends to the Narmada River, and borders the Kathiawar-Gir Dry Deciduous Forests in India to the northwest and the Narmada Valley dry deciduous forests to the northeast.
North Western Ghats Montane Rain Forests
North Western Ghats Montane Rain Forests are a tropical moist broadleaf forest eco region of southwestern India. North Western Ghats Montane Rain Forests cover an area of 30,900 square kilometers, extending down the spine of the Western Ghats range, from southernmost Gujarat through Maharashtra, Goa, and Karnataka. The montane rain forests are found above 1000 meters elevation, and are surrounded at lower elevations by the North Western Ghats moist deciduous forests.
South Western Ghats Moist Deciduous Forests
South Western Ghats moist deciduous forests are a tropical moist broadleaf forest eco region of southern India. South Western Ghats moist deciduous forests cover the southern portion of the Western Ghats range and the Nilgiri Hills between 250 and 1000 meters elevation in Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu states.
South Western Ghats Montane Rain Forests
South Western Ghats montane rain forests are an eco region of southern India, covering the southern portion of the Western Ghats Mountain Range in Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, at elevations over 1000 meters. They are cooler and wetter than the lower-elevation South Western Ghats moist deciduous forests, which surround the montane rain forests.
