Firoz pur Cantonment is a cantonment town in Firozpur district of the northern state of India, Punjab. The city of Firozpur is located in the south of Firozpur Cantonment. At present it is the divisional headquarters of the Indian Army. The administrative offices and residences of district is located in the cantonment area.
According to the 2001 census report, Firozpur Cantonment had a population of 57,418 inhabitants. Males constitute 60% of the population and females constitute 40% of the population. In Firozpur Cantonment, 11% of the population is les than six years of age. Firozpur Cantonment has an average literacy rate of 75% which is much higher than the national average literacy rate of 59.5%. The male literacy rate is 80% andd the female literacy rate is 68%.
This cantonment town has a historical importance because it served as the base of the Anglo sikh wars in the 1840s.
