Farah Khan is one of the leading and most versatile choreographers who have charmed Bollywood for a long time. Her recent venture Om Shanti Om has been a major success in the box-office. She is reputed not only as a choreographer but also as a director. Some of her notable and successful ventures have been Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om and recently released Tees Maar Khan which have been great successes at the box-office excepting the last one.
Early Life of Farah Khan
Her mother Menaka is the sister of Honey Irani and Daisy Irani who were reputed child artists in the early era of Hindi cinema. Farah Khan`s father is a well-known producer Feroz Khan who has many hit movies. Her younger brother Sajid Khan is a reputed actor who mainly portrays comic characters in movies and also a good director, who has directed two Hindi Feature Films already. One of her most famously choreographed movie is Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander which became a grand success and along with it brought Farah Khan to limelight. Her career started rolling.
Career of Farah Khan
Farah Khan achieved critical acclaim and recognition internationally for her work in "Monsoon Wedding", "Bombay Dreams" and "Vanity Fair". She was nominated for Broadway`s 2004 Tony Award as Best Choreographer for the movie "Bombay Dreams" along with collaborator Anthony Van Laast. She followed it up with her first directed movie Main Hoon Na produced by ShahRukh Khan. The film was a great success and her direction was highly appreciated. She became the first ever-female director to be nominated for Filmfare Best Director Award. She won the Filmfare Best Choreography Award four times beginning with 1998, 2000, 2001 and 2003. Apart from being in domestic circuit, she has also contributed internationally with the project, Marigold: An Adventure in India. She has also choreographed in movies like Farhan Akhtar`s Don and Rakesh Roshan`s Krrish. She also has trained the Latin Sensation Shakira for a Bollywood version of her hit song "Hips Don`t Lie" for the MTV Video Music Awards on August 31st 2006; live in Radio City Music Hall.
Personal Life of Farah Khan
Farah Khan got married with Shrish Kunder on 9th December 2004. She has recently choreographed her husband`s directorial debut, "Jaaneman" and her friend Karan Johar`s "Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna". Farah gave birth to triplets on 11 February 2008. She has a son, Czar, and two daughters, Diva and Anya.
