Eriodu, also spelled Eriyodu, is a small settlement and a panchayat town in Dindigul district of the southern state of India, Tamil Nadu. It is spread over an area of 15 sq. km. There are ten dependent villages scattered around Eriyodu. The nearest towns are Karur, Palani, Madurai and Trichy. The official language of Eriodu is Tamil. The nearby tourist destination is the Kodaikanal hill station.
Location of Eriodu
It is located in Dindigul next to Karur State Highway road. Vadamadurai is about eight kilometers in the northwest of Eriodu and Vedasandur is 13 km northeast of Eriodu.
Demographics of Eriodu
On the basis of 2001 India census, the town had a population of 7866 of which males were 51% and females were 49%. In the town, 11% of the population was under 6 years of age. On the basis of the report of same year, the town had an average literacy rate of 66%, higher than the national average of 59.5%. The male literacy was 76% and female literacy was 55%.

The climate of the town is dry and hot. It experiences rains from October to December. Temperatures during summer reach a maximum of 40 and a minimum of 25 degrees Celsius, while winter temperatures range between 25 and 18 degrees Celsius.

In terms of facilities, the town has a public library, an Electricity Board office, a post office, a police station, a government hospital and two banks including Tamil Nadu Mercantile Bank and Canara Bank.
Educational Institutes at Eriodu
The town has established four schools to impart education to its children out of which two are government and two are private. Both the government schools namely Government Higher Secondary School and Government Middle School are more than 50 years old. The private schools namely Vani Nursery and Primary School and Kalaivani Nursery and Primary School are more than 20 years old. Presently, there is no college in Eriyodu.

The nearby attraction is the Kodaikanal hill station. It is a city in the hills of the Dindigul district and there is a long history associated with it. Kodaikanal is referred to as the "Princess of Hill stations".

The closest airport is at Madurai and the closest railway station is the Dindigul Junction Railway Station. By road, Eriodu can be reached from Dindigul.
