Demographics of Edathala
As of 2001 Indian census report, Edathala had a population of 67,137 inhabitants. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Edathala has an average literacy rate of 80%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 83%, and female literacy is 77%. In Edathala, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age. 70% of population belongs to middle class.

One of the premier engineering colleges, KMEA engineering college, is also situated in Edathala. AL-Ameen College is also located in Edathala.

Some of them are: Sree Painaatu Durga Temple, Sree Kurumbakkavu Bhagavathy Temple, Sree Kunjatu Bhagavathy Temple, Sree Mattapilly Bhagavathy Temple, Sree Karukapilly Bhagavathy Temple, Sree Thuruthi Bhagavathy Temple, Pirali Sree Dharma Sastha Bhagavathy Temple, Sree Kuzhikattukavu Bhagavathy Temple and Mukkottil Temple.
