Most important crops cultivated in this district are maize, wheat, and pulses. 10 percent of the total area of the district is covered under forests which are about 2, 21,900 hectares. It accounts for a large cultivation of mango, papaya, citrus, banana, guava, cauliflower, cucurbits, brinjal, cabbage, onion, garlic, ginger etc. Panchmahal District boasts of 97 percent production of Quartz in Gujarat and supplies to other districts and regions. The district is a manufacturing base for steel products, automobiles and cryogenic equipments. Tourist destinations and fairs in the district exert a pull on a large number of tourists every year which also helps to boost the financial system.

Economy of Panchmahals District Panchmahal District has black alluvial soil which supports farming practices. Wheat, maize and pulses are the most important crops produced in the district. Major minerals present in Panchmahal District comprise quartz, marble and granite. Proven reserves of quartz in Gujarat are about 4 million metric tones, 75 percent of which is found in Panchmahals. Quartz is classified as a main mineral due to its application across a wide array of industries, glass industry being the leading consumer.

Emergence of several small scale industries, presence of huge reserves of minerals and existence of many industry players are fuelling the financial and industrial growth of the district. Recent surge in the development of engineering sector in the district has added more jobs and increased opportunities for the masses. Glassware, ceramics and cement are a few industries steadily emerging due to the presence of quartz in the district. The economy of Panchmahals is also driven by dairy farming and agriculture practices. Small scale industry sectors such as wooden products, food processing units, and machine tools are the supporting pillars of the economy. Upcoming irrigation projects are boosting agricultural production in the district.
