Durga temple of Uchaita village faces the east. It is one of the most revered temples in Darbhanga district that is visited by several devotees daily. It has a round dome. It is on the edge of a tank. It appears that the temple is a recent structure. At the entrance of the temple there is a verandah measuring 10 feet by 12. Above this there is a sanctum for the goddess Durga which is around 8 feet by 10 feet. One can also find an image of the goddess Durga in black stone that is around 2 feet high who is sitting on a lion. A lotus flower on the back of a lion is also seen. On the left there is Lord Brahma and Moon on the right side.

There is an image of Goddess Kali which is 6 inches high on the left side of the goddess Durga. All the four arms of the goddess Durga are cut off and the head is also missing. It is considered that the image is desecrated. Small images of Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Hanuman are on the right side of the goddess Durga. These images are made of black stone. It is believed that the late Maharajadhiraja Sir Rameshwar Singh of Darbhanga wanted to reinstate the head of the image. Thereafter, the head was carved out. Before the installation of the head, he had a dream in which the goddess told him to create my head.

In front of this temple, there is a newly constructed temple of Lord Shiva. There is a small temple of Bhairava in the rear side of the Shiva temple. Below these temples flows the river Kamla. The temple is reconstructed in the Indo-Aryan style. For the image there is a square cella for the image. It is curvilinear and there is no trace of storeys and it is surmounted by the massive circular coping stone on which the kalasa has been put. The priests of the temple belong to the Vaishnava sect. A fair is held near the temple during Vijayadashmi.
