Dr. Praveen Chandra is a leading Indian Cardiologist and is recognised as one of the leaders of Angioplasty, the endovascular procedure of widening narrowed or obstructed arteries and veins, in India. Proficient in a lot of new devices and technologies, Dr. Praveen Chandra has been awarded for success and achievement in the field of Coronary Angioplasty in the country, in 1998. Presently, he is the Chairman of Interventional Cardiology at Medanta (The Medicity), a multi-specialty medical institute located in Gurgaon Ahirwal, in the National Capital Region (NCR) of India. Dr. Chandra has most recently been conferred the Padma Shri, India"s fourth highest civilian honour by the Government of India in 2016, for his outstanding contribution in the domain of Medicine - Cardiology.
Early Life and Education of Dr. Praveen Chandra
Dr. Praveen Chandra was born in 1963 in the city of Gorakhpur, in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, to Dr. U. C. Verma. He completed his intermediate from Colvins Taluqadar College in Lucknow. He completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from King George`s Medical College (KGMC), Lucknow in 1985 and later completed his Doctor of Medicine (MD) in 1986 and Doctorate of Medicine (DM) in Cardiology in 1991, from the same place. He stays in Delhi.

Dr. Praveen Chandra is the Chairman of Interventional Cardiology at Medanta - The Medicity in Gurgaon, since January 2010. He has also served as the Director of Cardiac Cath Lab & Acute MI Services at Max Healthcare (from 2004 to 2010) and Consultant Cardiologist at Escorts Heart Institute and Research Center, New Delhi (from 1992 to 2004). He is a Fellow of Endovascular Intervention Society of India, Asia Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology, European Society of Cardiology, the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions and American College of Cardiology.
