Dr Francisco Luis Gomes District Library, in Goa, provides information services, encompassing all disciplines, to the people of the state. The library has been divided into various sections for the convenience of the users.

Dr Francisco Luis Gomes District Library, South Goa District, GoaDr Francisco Luis Gomes District Library is situated in South Goa district of Goa and is one of the major libraries of the state. It was established on 21st November 2010 and is funded and administered by the Government of Goa. It spans over an area of 8000 square metres and constitutes five floors. The collection of the library comprises about 40,000 books in various languages including English, Sanskrit, Konkani, Hindi and Marathi. Apart from these, periodicals and newspapers are also available in the library. The books are categorized in various sections. It also provides a Multipurpose Hall, Lecture Hall and a Conference Hall. The library was named after the former Parliamentarian from Navelim, Dr. Francisco Luis Gomes. On 5th February 2007, the foundation stone of the library was laid with the aim of providing an information service and free public library to the people of South Goa. It also serves as a significant community centre for informal education. It serves the people of all ages and choices.

Stacks Section
Stacks Section in the library houses over 15000 books, encompassing all subjects, in four languages including Konkani, Marathi, Hindi and English. It is on the ground floor and spans over an area of 7,308 square feet.

Reference Section
The second floor of the library houses the Reference Section and spreads over an area of 4100 square feet. It has a rich collection of handbooks, encyclopaedias and other references. It greatly serves the students and research scholars.

Periodicals Section
Periodicals Section is on the first floor and hosts journals, magazines and newspapers. Several leading magazines and newspapers can be obtained from this section.

Braille Section
The first floor of the library has Braille Section which is situated adjacent to Periodical Section. The section has special arrangements for the visually handicapped readers and constitutes Braille equipments, Braille books, appliances, sculptures, geographical maps and biological charts.

Own Book Reading Section
Adjacent to Periodical Section, the Own Books Section is also situated on the first floor where the readers can carry their own notebooks, laptops and study books.

Computer Section
Computer Section is on the second floor, adjacent to Reference Section of the library. Internet facility is provided in this section and printouts of the needed information can be taken.

Goa Section
On the fourth floor of the library is the Goa Section which houses about 3864 books including the rare ones related to Goan history and law. Political and physical maps of Indian states are also available in this section.

Children`s Section
The third floor of the library hosts the Children`s Section which houses around 5000 books and 274 CD/ DVD materials along with various games and toys. Sub sections of Children`s Section include Toys and Games Section, Audio-Visual Section, Reference Section, Children-Computer Section and Children`s Periodical Section.
