D.N. Sahay or Dinesh Nandan Sahay was the Governor of Tripura. He has also served as the first governor of Chhattisgarh. After his retirement, Dinesh Nandan Sahay joined the Samata Party. Sahay was the 1st governor of the Indian State of Chhattisgarh from the year 2000 to 2003. D.N. Sahay, the eminent politician, became Governor of Tripura in June 2003.
Early Life of D.N. Sahay
Dinesh Nandan Sahay was born on 2nd February 1936 in Madhepur district, Bihar in a middle class family to father late Deva Nandan Sahaya and mother late Kishori Devi. He managed to complete his M.A. in English Literature though being brought up in a rural background. He started his career as a lecturer in H.D. Jain College Ara, after finishing his M.A.

after completing his M A D.N. Sahay was chosen to the Indian Police Service as R.R. in the year 1960 and was appointed to the Bihar Cadre. In due discharge of his duty in this category, he also played an instrumental role in holding several hard-hitting assignments and also more than a few important appellations that included the Secretariat. Other than this D.N. Sahay also had a chore in CBI and on September 1, 1994, he retired as the Director General of Police.
D.N. Sahay after his retirement next joined the Samata Party in January 1995. In this field also he even proved his brilliance and became the Vice Senior President of the Bihar Pradesh Samata Party. After that D.N. Sahay also became a member of the National Executive of the party. He remained in this position until he became the first Governor of the State of Chhattisgarh. On November 1, 2000, he became the governor. D.N. Sahay was in the same position till1st June 2003. He assumed the Office of the Governor of Tripura on 2nd June 2003.
D.N. Sahay was also appointed to the post of Chairman of Bihar State Branch of United Nations Students Association. Apart from politics he is also involved in other areas like Social services, NGO`s and voluntary organisations.
D.N. Sahay is an keen reader of books, namely Political and Social Science. He has also contributed his articles to several magazines and journals.
Personal Life of D.N. Sahay
D.N. Sahay is married to Manju Sahaya and the couple has one son and two daughters. His son is a Class-I officer in G.I.C and son-in-law is senior officers in IAS and IPS (Bihar Cadre).
